No dia 05 de maio de 1922, nascia na vila de Staig, distrito de Alb-Donau em Baden-Württemberg, sul da Alemanha, o menino Urban Ioseph Stork, filho de Ioseph Stork e Maria Stork. De 1934 a 1941, Urban estudou nos colégios beneditinos de Weingarten e Ravensburg. Ainda jovem, aos 19 anos de idade, foi obrigado a deixar os estudos e o seminário para servir ao exército de seu País na Segunda Guerra Mundial. Combateu na Frente Russa e permaneceu durante dez meses na Áustria, como prisioneiro dos ingleses.

Após o término da guerra, ordenou-se sacerdote da ordem dos missionários Cambonianos em Bamberg/Alemanha (1953). Esteve em missão na Diocese de Háunuco, região central do Peru, e, em 1956, decidiu tornar-se monge cisterciense na Abadia de Nossa Senhora da Santa Cruz de Itaporanga. Eleito o segundo abade, sucedeu Dom Atanásio Merkle em 1971, exercendo o governo abacial por longos 35 anos (1971-1996). Cultivou a vida monástica com muita lealdade à regra de São Bento, ao mesmo tempo em que exercia plenamente as atividades pastorais. Por mais que seja contraditória essa afirmação, pode-se dizer que ele foi um dedicado monge-missionário, o qual, depois de enfrentar uma guerra mundial, abrigou-se em um Monastério no interior do Brasil e exerceu com zelo e dedicação a tarefa de anunciar o Evangelho.
Dom Estevam costumava dizer que o cotidiano monástico fizera com que ele deixasse de ter os pesadelos comuns aos ex-combatentes. Contava, que em certa ocasião, em uma de suas viagens de retorno à Europa, o serviço de bordo da empresa aérea exibiu um filme sobre a Segunda Guerra. Assim, ele que, no claustro, vivia sem contato com meios de comunicação, como televisão, rádio, internet, viu-se novamente diante daquelas cenas horríveis e angustiantes. E ao ser perguntado sobre a sua reação, respondia sorridentemente que se virara para o lado e dormira um sono profundo.
Em 2003, ano do Jubileu de Ouro de sua ordenação sacerdotal, lançou em livro suas homilias proferidas durante o ano Santo de 2000 – Sermões Cistercienses – Dom Estevam Stork, O. Cist..
Dentre as muitas atividades de uma vida dedicada ao Reino de Deus, por três vezes, Dom Estevam participou na Rede Vida de Televisão: no programa Frente a Frente, em São Paulo, com Dom Antonio Maria Muciollo; na Tribuna Independente, em São José do Rio Preto e, em comemoração de seu octogésimo aniversário, juntamente com membros da comunidade itaporanguense, celebrou missa transmitida ao vivo, no Santuário da Vida, nos estúdios da Rede Vida em São José do Rio Preto.
Após renunciar ao cargo, foi designado Abade Emérito da Abadia de Itaporanga/SP.
Faleceu em 20 de fevereiro de 2009, em plena atuação sacerdotal e monacal. Celebrara a missa na noite anterior do passamento, concelebrara a missa conventual da manhã seguinte, e, durante o café com a comunidade monástica, passou mal e foi levado ao hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças. No leito, e na presença de alguns monges, concedeu uma benção e pediu para que os presentes cantassem Salve Regina. Após o canto, disse suas últimas palavras: _ Não posso mais.
O sacerdote-abade esgotara a sua força física a serviço do Evangelho de Cristo. Deixou seu rebanho aos 86 anos de existência (1922-2009).
Se estivesse vivo, completaria hoje 89 anos.
Das inúmeras lembranças, são recorrentes o forte aperto de mão e o incansável pedido que fazia a seus interlocutores: “rezem pela minha conversão.”

On May 5, 1922, was born in the village of Staig district of Alb-Donau in Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany, the boy Urban Ioseph Stork, son of Mary and Ioseph Stork Stork.
From 1934 to 1941, Urban studied in colleges of Benedictine and Ravensburg Weingarten.
Still young at 19 years old, was forced to leave college and seminary to serve the army of his country in World War II. He fought in the Russian Front and stayed for ten months in Austria, as a prisoner of the British. After the war, ordained a priest in the order of missionaries Cambonianos in Bamberg / Germany (1953). Was on mission in the Diocese of Háunuco, central Peru, and in 1956 decided to become a Cistercian monk at the Abbey of Our Lady of Holy Cross Itaporanga. Voted the second abbot, Bishop Athanasius succeeded Merkle in 1971, putting the government abbey for long 35 years (1971-1996). Cultivated the monastic life with great loyalty to the rule of St. Benedict, while he held the full pastoral activities. Don Esteban used to say that the daily monastic did that he stopped having nightmares common to ex-combatants. He told that on one occasion in one of his trips back to Europe and the service on board the airline showed a film about WWII. Thus he who, in the cloister, lived without contact with the media, like television, radio, internet, found himself back at those horrible scenes and disturbing. And when asked about his reaction, he replied smilingly that had turned to the side and slept a deep sleep.

Among the many activities of a life dedicated to the Kingdom of God, three times, Don Esteban participated in the Life Network TV: Head to head the program in Sao Paulo, with Don Antonio Maria Muciollo; the Independent Tribune, at St. Joseph’s Black River and in commemoration of his eightieth birthday, along with community members itaporanguense, celebrated Mass broadcast live at the Shrine of Life, the Life Network’s studios in Sao Jose do Rio Preto.
After stepping down, he was appointed Abbot Emeritus of Abbey Itaporanga / SP.
He died on February 20, 2009, in full priestly and monastic activities. Celebrated Mass in the previous night’s passing, concelebrated the Mass friary next morning, and, over coffee with the monastic community, became ill and was taken to Our Lady of Grace Hospital. In the bed, and in the presence of some monks, gave a blessing and asked that those present sang Salve Regina. After the singing, said his last words: _ I can not.
The priest-abbot had exhausted his physical strength in the service of the Gospel of Christ. He left his flock in the 86 years of existence (1922-2009).
If he were alive, would have turned 89 years today.
Of the many memories, the applicants are strong handshake and asked who was tireless in his audience: "pray for my conversion."

Am 5. Mai 1922 wurde im Dorf Staig Landkreis Alb-Donau in Baden-Württemberg, Süd-Deutschland, der Junge Urban Ioseph Stork, Sohn der Maria und Ioseph Storch Storch geboren.
Von 1934 bis 1941, studierte Urban in den Kollegien der Benediktiner und Ravensburg Weingarten.
Noch jung an 19 Jahre alt, wurde gezwungen, das College zu verlassen und Priesterseminar, die Armee seines Landes im Zweiten Weltkrieg dienen. Er kämpfte in der russischen Front und blieb für zehn Monate in Österreich, als Gefangener der Engländer. Nach dem Krieg, ein Priester in der Ordnung der Missionare Cambonianos in Bamberg / Deutschland (1953) geweiht. War auf Dienstreise in der Diözese Háunuco, Zentral-Peru und im Jahr 1956 beschlossen, ein Zisterzienser-Mönch in der Abtei Unserer Lieben Frau von Heilig-Kreuz-Itaporanga geworden. Ausgezeichnet mit dem zweiten Abt, gelang es Bischof Athanasius Merkle im Jahr 1971, wenn der Staat Abtei für lange 35 Jahre (1971-1996). Bewirtschaftete das monastische Leben mit großer Loyalität gegenüber der Regel des heiligen Benedikt, während er die volle Seelsorge statt. Zwar ist es widersprüchlich, dass Aussage, man kann sagen, er war ein engagierter Missionar Mönch, der, nachdem vor einem Weltkrieg, in einem Kloster im ländlichen Brasilien untergebracht und spielte mit Eifer und Hingabe an Aufgabe das Evangelium verkünden.
Don Esteban pflegte zu sagen, dass die tägliche Klosterleben hat, dass er Alpträume gemeinsamen Ex-Kombattanten gestoppt. Er erzählte, dass bei einer Gelegenheit in einer seiner Reisen nach Europa zurück und der Service an Bord der Fluggesellschaft einen Film über den Zweiten Weltkrieg zeigte. So hat er, der im Kloster, ohne Kontakt mit den Medien lebten, wie Fernsehen, Radio, Internet, fand sich wieder an diese schrecklichen Szenen und störend. Und wenn über seine Reaktion gefragt, antwortete er lächelnd, dass hatte zur Seite gedreht und schlief einen tiefen Schlaf.
Im Jahr 2003, dem Jahr des Goldenen Jubiläums seiner Priesterweihe, startete er das Buch in seinen Predigten während des Heiligen Jahres 2000 ausgeliefert – Predigten Zisterzienser – Don Esteban Stork, O. Cist ..
Unter den vielen Aktivitäten ein Leben für das Reich Gottes, dreimal nahm Don Esteban in der Life Network TV: Leiter, um das Programm in Sao Paulo Kopf, mit Don Antonio Maria Muciollo; der Independent Tribune, in der St. Joseph’s Black River und im Gedenken an seinen achtzigsten Geburtstag, zusammen mit Mitgliedern der Gemeinschaft itaporanguense, zelebrierte die Messe live im Heiligtum des Lebens, wollen die Life Network Studios in Sao Jose Rio Preto.
Nach seinem Ausscheiden wurde er Abt der Abtei Emeritus Itaporanga / SP ernannt.
Er starb am 20. Februar 2009, in voller priesterliche und klösterliche Aktivitäten. Messe zelebrierte in der letzten Nacht vorbei, die Messe in Konzelebration Konvent am nächsten Morgen, und bei einer Tasse Kaffee mit der klösterlichen Gemeinschaft, wurde krank und war zu Our Lady of Grace Hospital gebracht. In dem Bett, und in Anwesenheit von einigen Mönchen, gab ein Segen und bat die Anwesenden Salve Regina sangen. Nach dem Singen, sagte seine letzten Worte: _ kann ich nicht.
Der Priester-Abt hatte seine physische Kraft in den Dienst des Evangeliums Christi erschöpft. Er verließ seine Herde in den 86 Jahren ihres Bestehens (1922-2009).
Wenn er noch leben würde, wäre 89 Jahre alt geworden heute.
